The Disturbing History Saga – Inspired by actual events
Secrets can kill . . .
In the heart of New Orleans, the Creole clairvoyant Beulah Laveau makes a harrowing decision. A decision of great sacrifice: entrusting her only child to a couple who swear to keep his lineage a secret. Thus, the gifted boy walks into a life he wasn’t meant for and it places him in a dire situation that requires the birth of unique survival skills—colder blood, thicker skin, and a killer instinct.
Beulah is a mom on a mission to right wrongs and protect her son. Standing in her way is a man obsessed with revenge and a government on a quest for global domination. A quiet legion of CIA agents lurks in the shadows as the boy grows to become the Gator, killer for hire. As the number of people who learn the Gator’s secret increases . . . so does the body count.
Secrets, promises, and conflicting loyalties threaten to incite consequences beyond everyone’s control.
A son, a mother, a government. All willing to fight . . . all willing to sacrifice.
Birth of the Gator is the pulse-pounding prequel to the award-winning novels that comprise The Gator Leaves Nothing Behind. Follow Kami Boley into the mid-twentieth century as she spins an intricate web of our history and her imagination in The Disturbing History Saga, a thrilling illumination of government secrets, underworld violence, and the mysteries of the human heart.

The Birth of the Gator is a perfect prequel to the compelling Part I and Part II of the Disturbing History Saga. Especially, those of us who craved more from this brilliant author. Yet, the book stands on its own. It has genuine characters and a plot that keeps you reading well past your bedtime. The synopsis alone is a tantalizing read. I highly recommend this book for history lovers and those who love intrigue.

I started out in this genre from a recommendation from my now fiancé. We do not have TV nor do we go to movies. We instead like to read books to each other. We were avid readers earlier in our lives and have grown fond of reading again, together.
We read the first two books several hours a night continuously unto completion. This book was no different. We have enjoyed the historical fiction aspect and the specific blend of dialect, locations and characters from the south Louisiana area.
I enjoy the books all tie into each other and there are little nuggets to connect the various books even though I read them in order of release, not numerical order. Which is nice because there is no definitive order you need to read them in.
The character development is excellent and some parts were very emotional to me. I found myself pulling for various characters to succeed in some instances and hoping for failure in other parts of the book. As that makes the characters more real to me.
I have recommended this series to numerous friends and all who have started the books have read both, and now are purchasing this one as well.
Give it a chance….. you will not regret it!

I’m so excited book #3 has bene released and we can finally learn why Gator is the way he is! Kami has a gift for writing, and words in general, and this book exceeded my expectations, especially with all of the history thrown in!! I was enthralled from the beginning, and even when it was over, I was googling to dig deeper into the stories this book provided. Keep writing, Kami- your audience appreciates your talent!!

I could hardly wait for this book to come out and I am obsessed with Kami’s writing. The way Kami melds her fictional characters with non-fictional people and their history is just absolutely amazing; I cannot believe she has not been writing her whole life. I highly recommend this series of books and I will always be a fan! I look forward to your future stories.

Birth of the Gator blurs the line between fact and fiction—an exciting roller coaster ride through the childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood of a man called Gator. This book is the first of a series, but I feel it can be read as a stand-alone. Gator is also a main character in The Gator Leaves Nothing Behind (a two-part book I purchased and devoured last year). This new release shows the unique backstory of a complex man who curiously and interestingly vacillates between being a shining hero and a creepy villain. Such fascinating character development! This page-turner is a clever twist of fiction and true crime narrative. It is so much fun to Google the feast of facts Kami Boley tucks into every nook and cranny of her story. I highly recommend this book and this series!!

Having read both parts of The Gator Leaves Nothing Behind, I was greatly looking forward to the prequel and it definitely didn’t disappoint. It laid out the background and history of the characters often with jaw dropping results. I had often wondered whether it would be preferable to read the prequel first and then Parts 1 and 2. While that would give a more chronological progression, I think I preferred reading Birth of the Gator last, as there are a lot of surprises in the prequel. Again, as in the first two works of this trilogy, Kami Boley transports the reader to south Louisiana where you can feel the stillness and steaminess of the air. Her love of history and pursuit of historical accuracy is evident. I would highly recommend Birth of the Gator, along with The Gator Leaves Nothing Behind Parts 1 and 2, in whichever order you choose to read them.
