“Choose de right one an’ you will know peace and success . . .
Choose de wrong one an’ you will suffer in bondage many a year.”
A chance meeting set the spinning threads of destiny in motion in the bayou-side community of Houma, Louisiana, where a young woman’s quiet struggle builds to horrific heights. Mary Poche finds herself facing a diabolical threat, a nemesis she never expected: her husband.
Back in September of 1958, Mary was delivered a fate-filled message about dangerous choices and two men who would enter her life. The mysterious details of that Creole woman’s warning fade fast from Mary’s memory as the busy school days go by, yet her future continues to align, inescapable.
Mary has a brilliant mind with a clear road to her educational ambitions, but life is about to throw her into a maze of relationships, hormones, desires, and dangers she never saw coming. She finds herself lured, caught amidst the attention of a boy and a man. One has a questionable future and one has a mysterious past; both are a possible threat to her safety.
She’s afraid of losing her head and her heart to love . . . but what if the stakes are much higher?

Meet Kami Boley
Author Kami Boley was born in Houma, Louisiana. At a young age, she discovered a deep passion for books and writing. As a young adult, she put that dream on hold to devote her time and energy to working as a cosmetologist so she could provide for a new love in her life, her daughter, Kirstie. Now that Kirstie is grown, Kami is ready to share her stories through Boley Books LLC.
Proud Mom, Author & book lover . . . a survivor, a perpetual student of life, and a citizen of the world. Ever curious, a hunter of education and information. If you want to see her latest discoveries, check out her blog at boleybooks.com.
What real events inspired the Disturbing History Saga?
Aside from the strong historical aspects, my novels are a re-telling of one woman’s harrowing experience when love turns dangerous . . . a true story of domestic abuse cleverly wrapped in fiction.
Some women suffer abuse in silence fearing the judgement of others. These books are meant to give those women a voice . . . a quiet strength . . . a message of hope that will help them to find a way out. To give those that have suffered, and are suffering still, my heartfelt nod of solidarity.
Some have stated that my book covers are scary . . . and they are . . . because domestic abuse IS scary. It is scary for the adults, and even scarier for the children who witness it.
I would like to share the dedication from my newest book The Gator Leaves Nothing Behind, Part II, with those that have experienced or witnessed domestic abuse . . .
To surviving histories and building futures . . .
For all the souls and bodies damaged by domestic violence—may your scars heal and may you find equanimity and all its synonyms.
I want my books to serve as a warning and a roadmap to bypass the horrific circumstances that imprisoned Mary Poche.
