Dark, Gritty, Atmospheric.

In this series’ fourth installment, Hazel Greenlee returns to the crime-ridden underbelly of Black Harbor after her ex-husband Tommy is found murdered. Hazel’s sordid history with Tommy places her directly in the crosshairs as a prime suspect. On a quest to remove all suspicion and clear her name, Hazel finds herself on the defense and back in the orbit of sultry detective Nikolai Kole. With sufficient backstory highlights, this new mystery, and the bittersweet infatuation between Nik and Hazel . . . this novel can be enjoyed as a standalone novel.

I recommend this book for those who enjoy visiting Black Harbor, moody murder mysteries, police procedurals, and slow-burn romance.

I thank NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of The Unlucky Ones for my unbiased evaluation.  3 stars
