Greetings from Boley Books,

Yes, my friends, I bring to you a confession. An admission that the rumors you may have heard are indeed true . . . that on Black Friday 2017, I discovered what the rest of the world already knew—I, Kami Boley, am a mere mortal.

I am self-employed and have been most of my adult life. I can be a cruel and demanding boss; I have zero tolerance for excuses or absences. For thirty years I have been so proud of my relentless work ethic in the face of this villainous body of mine, a body that craves to trip me up at every turn.

You see, I fight an endless myriad of autoimmune issues and have since I was a child. With no known cure and lack of good options for treatment—other than to play chase-the-symptoms—I fight this invisible enemy. Sometimes I fight Lupus so fiercely that I stand by will alone.

This was not the case on November 24, 2017. I was powerless as I fell flat with fever, a temperature that squashed all the fight in me. In surrender, I did the unthinkable:

I called in sick for work.

My spotless record is now marred with defeat. There was a time where this would have been a much bigger issue . . . but things are quickly evolving. I am becoming a new me. More important than the battle I recently fought and lost, is the win that I celebrated shortly before . . .

I turned in my next book’s manuscript for editing.

Editing is hard work. It will try every ounce of my patience and frazzle each and every one of my nerves. I am not excited so much about the work ahead, but for the achievement of having lived through it—to be able to present it to you with a proud and satisfied grin.

Thank you all for continuing this journey with me. I hope to have more exciting news for you soon. I will be sending thoughts of love and joy to you and your family throughout this holiday season.

Oh! I almost forgot to share this . . . Spencer lifted me up when he posted the video below . . . ENJOY!

We would love to have your input or ideas for our 2018 adventures in literature and in real life . . . tell us where you would love to go . . . we want to help send you there!

Happy Reading and Writing,
Kami Boley and the Boley Books Team
